Of these contestants, only 1000 were selected to move on to the second phase which consisted of singing solos and duets. At the conclusion of the second phase there were 400 who continued on in the competition which consisted mainly of acting. Of those 400, 100 survived to participate in the actual test performance which resulted in 40 semi-finalists who spent a week of intense testing to qualify as one of the 18 finalists of which Moroni Cruz was one of them.
